No Tail – A Pantomime for Strood, written by Ruth Ewan with Penny Cliff, produced by Idle Women for OOTO Places, and performed by candle light on the Winter Solstice 2015, in Strood’s 13th Century Temple Manor.

The performance took the form of a mumming play, a traditional form of allegorical folk play, records of which date back to 1296. The play imagines a scenario in which Strood is no longer overshadowed by its more famous neighbour across the River Medway, Rochester.

The programme contains the entire script, commissioned essays, interviews and excerpts from exercises carried out during public workshops as part of the development of No Tail.
